# How do I create categories in my MerchStore?

## For MerchStores created on or after 10/21/2026:

To create a category:

1. From your **Store Dashboard**, under **Products**, click **Categories**.
2. Click **+ Add** in the upper-left corner.
3. Enter the **Category Name**.
4. Choose whether the category will contain **store products** or **subcategories**.
5. Click **Add Category** when finished.

We recommend creating an **All Products** category, **Apparel** category, and **Gifts & Accessories** category.

**Note:** If your store has fewer than 50 products, categories may not be necessary unless you would like to use them to organize your products. For the best shopping experience, we recommend displaying approximately **30–35 products per category page**.
