# What is the difference between artwork and designs?

## For MerchStores created on or after 10/21/2026:

There are two ways for your files to be stored in your account. The first is as **Artwork** and the second is as a **Design**.

**Artwork** is a raw file that is uploaded. A **Design** is more than the file it is the placement and sizing.

For embroidery, a design also includes thread color. Because of this, the same artwork may have multiple designs if it is used with different sizes, placements, or thread colors.
